How To Get A Taxi In Aruba

Getting a taxi in Aruba

Aruba is a tiny island, but it’s not always a good idea to walk everywhere because it’s hot and the distances can be long. So, if you don’t have a rental car or don’t want to take the bus, the finest way to get around is by taxi.
Some guests may not have taken a cab in Aruba before, so we created a short and easy guide on how to get a taxi in Aruba.

Keep in mind that all taxis here have a 5 passenger limit!

5 Different ways to get a taxi in Aruba

You can easily recognize a taxi by the sign on the top of the car, but if you want to make sure it’s an official taxi, then the number plate should begin with the letters “TX”.

There may or may not be a smaller secondary plate with the same letters on the left side which has the same number as the bigger plate but in very small text.

There are 5 ways to get a taxi in Aruba:

  1. Find a taxi at your location
  2. Hail a taxi
  3. Call a taxi directly
  4. Have a taxi arranged for you
  5. Book a taxi online

1. Find a taxi at your location

Taxi cabs outside of a major supermarket

When you’re out and about at places like the airport, hotels, restaurants, or even supermarkets, finding a taxi to take you to your next destination is a breeze. Just keep an eye out for taxis parked in busy areas – they’re always on the lookout for new customers. All you need to do is head on over, say a friendly hello, and you’re on your way to wherever you need to be!

Keep in mind that taxis in Aruba have a 5 passenger limit!

2. Hail a taxi

If you happen to find yourself wandering the beautiful beach or streets in Aruba, unsure of how to get around, fear not!

Simply keep an eye out for a busy road and, if you spot a taxi passing by, don’t hesitate to give them a wave. In the likely event that the taxi is vacant, the driver will be more than happy to assist you on your journey.

It’s especially easy near touristic locations and attractions, where taxis are plentiful and readily available. So the next time you’re out exploring a new place, remember to keep this simple tip in mind and let the taxis do the work for you.

3. Call a taxi directly

If you have access to a phone then the best way may be to call a taxi directly.

Choose one of your favorite taxi service providers or try one of the numbers below:

ATC Aruba Taxi Company: +297 587 1300

Taxi Address Service Aruba: +297 587 5900

Taxi Services Aruba: +297 593 4257

4. Have a taxi arranged for you

Just Ask Reception!

When you travel, it’s nice to have someone to ask for help with things like directions or getting a taxi.

In Aruba, hotels and restaurants can help you with this. Just go to the reception desk and ask for a taxi. They’ll arrange it for you.

This is good if you don’t have a local phone or don’t know how to use public transportation. The hotels and restaurants know which taxi companies are good, so you’ll get a safe and reliable ride. So, if you’re in Aruba and need a taxi, don’t worry – just ask the hotel or restaurant staff and they’ll take care of it for you.

5. Book a taxi online

If you’re going to Aruba and you want a trouble-free ride, it’s best to plan ahead and book your taxi online. It’s easy!

Search for an Aruba taxi service provider online and book on their website. This way, you can enjoy several benefits which you cannot get while hailing a taxi on the street. You can book a “transfer” instead of a regular taxi, which allows you to avoid the typical 5 passenger limit.

Furthermore, it’s important to agree on a price with your driver beforehand. This ensures transparency, so you know what you’re paying. Overall, booking your taxi ahead of time is great for ensuring a comfortable, safe, and stress-free transportation experience in Aruba.

Bonus tips

Aruba is a wonderful place to visit and hiring a taxi is easy. Just check to make sure the license plate has a “TX” marker to ensure it is a real taxi.
The government regulates the taxi prices based on distance, so feel free to ask the driver what the ride will cost.
Tipping is not required, but appreciated for good service.
